Ingredients

  • 5 gal (23L) Water
  • 4.86lbs (2.2kg) Pilsen DME (3.7kg grain)
  • 11.75 AAU Saaz
  • Saflager W34/70 yeast packet
  • 1 tsp Irish moss
  • 6.57 oz Priming Sugar
  • Gelatin

Instructions

  1. Grains:
    • If BIAB, mash grain w/ 29L water @ 66C for 60m, then 76C for 10m
    • If extract, combine water and DME
  2. t+00:00 Start boiling, add Saaz hops
  3. t+45:00 Add Irish Moss
  4. t+60:00 Done. Chill in ice bath to 55F.
  5. Add clean water to 1.045 SG.
  6. Aerate and pitch yeast
  7. Ferment @ 55F for 8 days
  8. Ramp temperature to 68F for 6 days until fermentation complete, ~1.008 FG
  9. Add gelatin for fining and move to 30-32F for 4 days
  10. Add boiled priming sugar, bottle.
  11. Bottle condition 72F for 2 to 14 days
  12. Lager in bottles at fridge for 5 days to 6 weeks
