Filling
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground lamb
- 0.5 cups uncooked rice or bulghour, or a combination of the two
- 0.25 cups chopped parsley
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped fine
- grape leaves, as needed
- ceyenne pepper, as needed
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients.
- Knead into dough, adding water as needed.
- Take a leaf, rinse it in a water bath, and remove the stem. Place it flat with the coarse side up.
- Take a large teaspoon of dough and place on leaf.
- Roll the leaf, turning up the ends.
- Place the rolled leaf in a casserole.
Broth
Ingredients
- 1 can beef or chicken broth
- 8 oz crushed tomatoes
- 0.25 cup lemon juice
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients.
- Pour over casserole.
- Cover casserole and cook at 350F/180C for 1 hour.
