Filling

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs ground lamb
  • 0.5 cups uncooked rice or bulghour, or a combination of the two
  • 0.25 cups chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped fine
  • grape leaves, as needed
  • ceyenne pepper, as needed

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients.
  2. Knead into dough, adding water as needed.
  3. Take a large teaspoon of dough and place on leaf.
  4. Roll the leaf, turning up the ends.
  5. Place the rolled leaf in a casserole.

Broth

Ingredients

  • 1 can beef or chicken broth
  • 8 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 0.25 cup lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients.
  2. Pour over casserole.
  3. Cover casserole and cook at 350F for 1 hour.
