Ingredients[edit]

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 8 fl oz milk
  • 2 fl oz rendered bacon fat
  • 1.5 minced onions
  • 12 oz white cornmeal
  • 8 oz cake flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp ground black pepper
  • 0.25 ceyenne
  • 32 fl oz vegetable oil, or as needed for frying

Instructions[edit]

  1. Combine eggs, milk, fat, and onions.
  2. Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and ceyenne.
  3. Make a well in the center and gently add wet ingredients. Stir until combined.
  4. Form the batter into round balls.
  5. Heat the oil to 350F.
  6. Deep fry the hush puppies.
