Makes 10 Servings.
Ingredients[edit]
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 8 fl oz milk
- 2 fl oz rendered bacon fat
- 1.5 minced onions
- 12 oz white cornmeal
- 8 oz cake flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp ground black pepper
- 0.25 ceyenne
- 32 fl oz vegetable oil, or as needed for frying
Instructions[edit]
- Combine eggs, milk, fat, and onions.
- Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and ceyenne.
- Make a well in the center and gently add wet ingredients. Stir until combined.
- Form the batter into round balls.
- Heat the oil to 350F.
- Deep fry the hush puppies.
